Google Analytics Individual Qualification

The Google Analytics Individual Qualification was set up in March 2009 as a similar program to the Advertising Professionals Programme for Google Adwords. It also gave the chance for companies to become Google Analytics Authorized Consultants, currently 11 companies in the UK have this status. This bank holiday weekend with the weather being awful I set about passing the exam in one afternoon.

To start off with my level of knowledge of Googe Analytics is pretty good to start with, I know about tracking code, installing goals, filters and profiles set up. I thought there was room to improve and around 15% of the material for the test was new to me.

Before undertaking the test you need to read over and listen to all the material at Conversion University which are lessons about all areas of Analytics. Even if you are not going to be taking the test I would suggest taking the time to sit and listen to the material, it’s slides with a voice over so it’s not too taxing. Adding up in total there are 2 hours 44 minutes and 46 seconds of video to watch.

The main new areas for me were the cookies, knowing that each session lasts 30 minutes, a little bit more on regex and a few of the customizations to the tracking code.

Once you’ve covered all the notes you can then take the test which is $50 USD which around £31. There are 90 questions in total and you have 90 minutes to complete. The aim is to get 75% or over correct to pass.

The questions are all multiple choice, some questions have two answers and some questions ask you to tick all answers that apply. All of the questions will relate to the lessons in Conversion University.

For me the test took 40 minutes in total and I came out with a score of 90% which is isn’t the greatest but a comfortable pass.

If you working as an account manager or a freelance SEO the  Google Analytics Individual Qualification something you should do, at £31 it is an expense but the certificate lasts 18 months and looks great on a CV or for proposals for clients.
